Multiplayer
Everyone in the game needs AzerothGPS StreetView. The host picks the street views and keeps the rounds moving, and each player scores their own guess and shares it with the others.
Playing with others#
Pick Link (then a level and the rounds) to host a game. Nothing gets sent until you send it:
- The panel shows Send the link: with buttons for Party, Raid, Say, Guild, your numbered chat channels (General, Trade...) and Target (a whisper to the player you have targeted). Click one and the game's link goes into your chat box on that chat, the way linking a map position does. Press Enter to send it. Already typing a message? The link goes right where your cursor is. (Once every 5 seconds, so nobody gets spammed.)
- Players with StreetView see [Join Where in the Azeroth?: Heroic, 3 rounds] in chat, so they know the level and the rounds before they click. One click and they're in, no popups. Players without the addon just see a short code.
- Up to 10 players can join. The game starts when the lobby's countdown ends, when it's full, or when you click Start now.
Link games work on your realm and faction (they run on a hidden chat channel of their own). Click too late and you're told the game already started, is full, or is over. Everyone leaves that hidden channel by themselves a few seconds after the game ends (and any left over from a /reload goes too), so it never takes up one of your channel slots.
Why 10 players? The game client lets an addon send only about 10 messages at once, then 1 a second. StreetView paces its messages to stay under that, and 10 players keeps every round's messages well within it, so nobody misses a street view.
The lobby#
Every multiplayer game counts down 1 minute before the first round ("starts in" under the title). The countdown starts once your link is in chat (when you press Enter, not when the button puts it in your chat box), so take your time choosing where to post it. Everyone sees the same countdown, no matter when they joined.
The player list#

Once the rounds start, the player list sits in the street view's corner, right under the timer:
- Players are ranked by total, five at a time. Scroll the mouse wheel over the list to see the rest; a thin bar shows where you are.
- Your own row stays pinned under the list when you're further down.
- During a round, players show guessed as soon as they place a guess. Nobody sees where, or how many points, until the round's result.
- Hover a player's marker on the map (between rounds or at the end) to see their name, their points and distance for the round, and their total.
In the lobby, or if you close the street view, the list shows on the map's panel instead.
Leaving, and /reload#
- A player who leaves (the X, leaving the party, going offline) drops off the list, and the game carries on without them.
- If the host leaves or goes quiet, the game ends for everyone.
- A
/reloaddoesn't count as leaving. You come right back into the game and catch up on what you missed.
